The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand facilities, and client transport.

The remand facility and prison in Kalmar together form the Kalmar operational area and are thus organizationally the same unit. Employees working in Kalmar will occasionally serve at both the remand facility and the prison depending on the needs of the operation. The prison in Kalmar has 77 places in security class 2, it is the oldest in the country and was built in 1852. The remand facility in Kalmar has 50 places. Both facilities are located in central Kalmar, just a few minutes' walk from the central station. The Kalmar operational area has a total of about 130 employees.

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service in Kalmar has several new establishments underway. This results in an increased need for personnel regarding several different roles and services.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As an administrator in the Kalmar operational area, you will work together with a colleague to provide support and service functions for the operational site you are based at, and you are also expected to work throughout the operational area as needed. You will collaborate daily with other functions such as caseworkers, duty officers, and correctional officers.

The tasks are varied, including journal management, registration and processing of client documents, victim information, orders, archives, diaries, as well as financial tasks such as invoice management, inmate funds, banking matters, and reconciliations.

The tasks require that you have knowledge of the principle of public access while ensuring that confidentiality is maintained.

Client-facing tasks may occur. A uniform will be worn.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is self-driven and service-oriented. As the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, including the Kalmar operational area, undergoes changes, it is important that you are proactive, open to rapid changes, and development-oriented. The processing in the work is part of the legal process, therefore it is required that you are meticulous and structured. You have good judgment, are quality-conscious, can make the right priorities, and are used to working at a fast pace at times. The role of administrator is a service function and requires that you have the ability to work both independently and in close collaboration with other employees in the Kalmar operational area as well as other stakeholders within and outside the authority.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A minimum of high school qualifications in the form of final grades/high school diploma. Preferably with administration or other education deemed suitable by the employer.
• Experience from administrative tasks in public administration and good administrative skills.
• Good knowledge of the principle of public access.
• Good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish.
• Good IT skills.

It is meritorious if you have:

• Experience working with diary management, archives, confidential documents, and handling authority emails or similar.
• Experience in administrative work within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
• Experience working in administrative data systems.
• Experience from an authority within the legal system.
• Knowledge and experience of working in financial systems and/or Platina.

OTHER

We place high demands on our employees' security and confidentiality awareness. To work with us, you need to undergo a security check in accordance with the Security Protection Act. The position is placed in a security class, and a security check including a security interview with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. During the security check, you will be investigated as a person, your background, and your relationships from a security perspective. You need to be a Swedish citizen, but you may have a foreign background. You will receive more information about the security check during your job interview.
